- Slice the yellow onion into fairly large slices.
- Heath the butter in a pan, and add the onions, cooking until soft
Add 24 oz of a beer of your choice and nestle 6 of the raw brats in the
onion/beer mixture. Simmer for 20-25 minutes, until the brats are cooked
Grill the brats to get grill marks on them (or you don't have to, since at
this point they are fully cooked).
When you have removed the cooked brats from the onion/beer mixture,
reduce the beer slightly, until the onions are caramelized and jammy.
Serve these on the side, or on the brat.
Heat buns if desired, and assemble the brat with the jammy onions,
sauerkraut slaw, and grated mustard seed gouda cheese.
Chef Notes: You can use apple cider instead of beer for this recipe.
