Roasting the broccolini, as opposed to boiling or steaming it, brings out a meatier, more umami-like flavor that is also amplified with the addition of garlic and shredded Asiago cheese. Serve this healthy side on the same plate with grilled or broiled meats, or let it stand on its own.
- Heat a convection oven to 400 degrees. In a large bowl, toss the broccolini with olive oil, red pepper flakes, and salt and pepper. Spread evenly onto a sheet pan sprayed with nonstick cooking spray.
- Place the lemon halves on the sheet pan with the seasoned broccolini and roast for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and toss in the roasted garlic.
- Continue to roast until edges are charred, 5 to 10 minutes longer.
