Detailed specifications identifying food safety and quality requirements are provided to the approved suppliers to clearly outline product performance expectations. Sysco Quality Assurance samples and evaluates Sysco Portico seafood products to ensure compliance with our expectations. In addition, Sysco Quality Assurance routinely reviews regulatory sites to assure that our approved suppliers remain in good standing with the regulatory agencies with authority over seafood products.

Independent Audit Program
Sysco QA’s Independent Audit Program (IAP) was initiated in 1999. The program requires approved Sysco Brand food and food contact disposable suppliers to undergo an annual Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) audit, conducted by an authorized certification body. Safe Quality Food (SQF) or Global Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
