- Heat broth to a simmer in a saucepan over medium-high heat; whisk in grits.
- Reduce heat to medium-low; cook until thickened, about 7 minutes, whisking occasionally.
- Stir in cream, cheese, butter and salt. Hold warm in a steam table for service. Makes about 4½ cups.

- Toss all ingredients in a bowl. Refrigerate in an airtight container 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
For serving
- Cook bacon over medium-high heat in a sauté pan until crisp, about 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
